What Is Baptism?

Learn More About Being Baptized As Christ Intends For You

Biblical Baptism

Baptism allows us to be born again in Jesus & The Holy Spirit.

Baptism through immersion symbolizes your faith to God, your obedience and the redemption of your previous life.

To be born again means that we are able to have a fresh start in God no matter what we did before. No matter where we come from, who people say we are, or who we think we are not. God loves every part of you.

Water Baptism

God’s way might not be popular, but it is the true way. Just like a parent, God will guide us and mould us into the best version we can be through experiences and discipline.  Our society distracts us with careers, materialism, relationships, etc. and we have a lack of understanding about the importance of following our Creator. Although life is important, we often forget to give credit in areas where it is due. Without God, none of these things would be possible. By acknowledging these simple things you are already on a journey of learning your true purpose in this life.

God often puts emphasis on baptism throughout the New Testament. In John 3:3, Jesus states that: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”, which relates to Peter 2:38, stating “…Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Baptism through immersion symbolizes your faith to God, your obedience and the redemption of your previous life. In order to be born again, we must be filled with the Spirit of God (The Holy Ghost), which can only come through repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist (Jesus’ cousin) set the example for us, baptizing God’s people in water before Jesus started his ministry. Water baptism is the prerequisite to the next level: Baptism of the Holy Ghost,

Spiritual

Baptism Of The Holy Ghost

To be born again means that we are able to have a fresh start in God no matter what we did before. That is not important in God’s eyes, and you should never listen to anyone who says otherwise because it is not biblical. God’s love is unconditional, and he wants us to begin a journey of transformation through our love for Jesus Christ. He is infinitely good, wise and forgiving, and he is calling back his people. Baptism of the Holy Ghost comes as you develop a deeper relationship with God.

When John the Baptist was preparing the way for Jesus, he states in Luke 3:16: ” …I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”. This did not mean that Jesus would baptize his followers then and there in the Spirit, but Jesus stated in John 16:7: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” After his death, the disciples could not see him in person, and could only communicate with him through prayer (except for the several times he appeared to them). Prayer (which is a commandment, and translates to obedience) is exceptionally important as this will deepen your relationship with God, allowing him to prepare you to be filled (baptized) with his Holy Spirit. In Acts 4:31, the disciples experienced this for themselves, “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

In summary, the way to experience baptism of the Holy Ghost is through obedience, prayer and repentance… ingredients to a healthy relationship with God.

Repentance? Does That Mean Perfection?

The answer is: NO!

Repentance does not mean perfection. No human being will ever be perfect; God made us this way. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are born sinners! Think about it for a second. However, this does not give us the right to live in rebellion and disobedience because there will be consequences to our actions; the worst being eternal separation from our Lord! Repentance means to stop in the direction you are heading, to turn completely around and go a new direction (God’s direction). Sometimes this is difficult because there are roadblocks in the way, like addictions, mental health issues, family issues, etc. God knows this already! What he wants to see is a desire to change, and to do everything in your power to make that change a reality. Often, this means avoiding places, people and situations that enable us to fall into the sin we are turning away from. When our weaknesses are too strong for us to handle, we must turn to Jesus as our remedy. Somethings only God can remove, and many times that is how he brings you close to him…he does it for a reason. He will turn our struggles and pain into our testimonies for HIS Glory, but we have to ride the ride to get there. Self control is increased through prayer, fasting and seeking him through his Word. Our journeys are all different, and he is the only one who can tell you.
