The Challenge
For over 5 decades, many people have migrated from the island of Jamaica in search of a more prosperous life. Presently, these migrants are part of the aging population seeking a commodious environment for retirement. Over the years, many have lost their dreams of returning to the island mainly due to the increased crime rate and negative stereotypical views. It is imperative that Jamaica becomes enticing to the natives that have left and others who may want to consider Jamaica as their home.
The Solution
Church of God Deliverance Centre aims to provide an extension of God’s work through a multi-purpose building for the people in Clarendon, Jamaica. We have been working to complete a multi-functioning building in the community, equipped with running water and hydro, that acts as a school, church, community centre and more. Currently we are seeking donations in order to:
- Install showers, toilets and sinks in both the male and female washrooms
- Install kitchen counters and appliances in the kitchen area of the building
- Collect money to go towards school supplies and other learning equipment
How You Can Help
With your support, we can complete this project and provide a safe spot for the village of Clarendon to learn about Jesus, worship, acquire a Christian based education and utilize amenities that they may not have easily or constant access to otherwise. This is an opportunity for the community to come together and work together to contribute towards a better future for themselves, which will contribute to a better future for the country of Jamaica. Although this addition in Clarendon is only a small portion of the work that needs to be done, we know that it is one step closer to a future that we hope to see.
